Asphalt Thermoplastic Paving Markings

Thermoplastic pavement markings are a blend of polymers that become moldable or flexible when heated to certain temperatures, solidifying upon cooling. These markings typically consist of elastomers, binder resins, plasticizers, pigments, fillers, and glass beads.

The Process

Heating the Material

The thermoplastic material is heated to a minimum of 400 degrees Fahrenheit in a melting kettle.

Application Preparation

Once melted, the liquid material is prepared for application. It is loaded into a sprayer or extruder, which is used to apply the markings onto the pavement.

Marking Application

The material is sprayed or extruded onto the pavement surface to form the desired markings. As it cools and solidifies, it adheres to the pavement, creating durable and long-lasting markings
