From time to time, Alpha Paving is asked to serve as a subcontractor on specific jobs. This was the case when U.S. Pavement Services, a national paving company, once more approached us to handle some of the work on one of their projects. The project was at a Hobby Lobby in Houston, Texas.

What Is the Background of the Project?

Hobby Lobby was founded in 1972. Since then, the company has grown from a single store in Oklahoma City to a national chain with over 800 stores. The job site was at 6145 Westheimer Road in Houston. The store had formerly housed a Toys R Us location and was in the process of being remodeled for Hobby Lobby. Because there was also work being performed on the exterior of the building and the lighting, we had to communicate effectively and frequently with the general contractor. Due to the remodeling work, the parking lot was closed, making our tasks somewhat easier to execute.

What Work Did Alpha Paving Perform at the Hobby Lobby in Houston?

The job took three days to complete. We began by performing asphalt repairs on approximately 11,300 square feet of pavement. The depth of the repairs varied from two inches to as much as four inches. These repairs were completed on the first day.

The second day was devoted to crack repairs. We performed crack sealing on approximately 20,000 linear feet of pavement. On the third day, we restriped the parking lot.

As always, our crew members delivered high-quality work on all tasks. We finished on time and within budget.
