Lago Vista is a small, growing community on the shores of Lake Travis. The town officially incorporated in 1984, and in 1990, almost 2,200 people made their homes in Lago Vista, TX. Rapid growth followed, and by 2016, the population was estimated at more than 6,600. Lago Vista’s leaders have frequently had to upgrade the town’s thoroughfares to accommodate a growing year-round population as well as the many tourists and summer residents. One such upgrade was the installation of a new traffic signal at a busy intersection. The town of Lago Vista asked Alpha Paving to serve as the general contractor for the project.

What Role Did Alpha Paving Play in the Lago Vista Project?
This was Alpha Paving’s first project as a general contractor to include traffic signal work as a significant part of the project. The scope of the project was to install a four-way traffic signal with related roadway improvements, new asphalt paving, and pavement markings. Walker Partners handled the project engineering. Our subcontractor on the project was Austin Traffic Signal. Our concrete and dirt division was responsible for the project management and construction.
Work began in May 2018. The intersection receiving the upgrade experiences heavy traffic conditions as it provides the primary access to Lago Vista’s resorts, golf courses, and churches as well as the city’s fire and emergency medical service stations. Effective traffic control was vital, but Alpha’s experience and careful planning helped minimize disruptions. We completed the project on time and within budget in August 2018.
