Every parking lot has the potential to present unique challenges. This was certainly the case when Chevrolet Buick Marble Falls asked us to repair, sealcoat, and stripe their parking lot. With most parking lots, we can simply close off certain areas to prevent access, complete the work in each area, and then move on to the next section. In the case of the Marble Falls Chevrolet dealership, the parking lot contained their inventory. What Work Did Alpha Perform at the Marble Falls Chevrolet Dealership?
We were the prime contractor for this project, and it was the first time that we had served this customer. The dealership wanted to ensure that the pavement in the parking lot was attractive, safe, and protected. We started with the repairs. Repairs ranged between two and four inches for a total of more than 500 square feet. We used TXDOT 340-Type D asphalt for the repairs. Next, we applied two coats of Jennite AE sealcoating. The first coat was squeegee-applied, and the second coat was applied with a sprayer. The dealership approved this method because it would offer better coverage of surface flaws, provide more material, and deliver a longer life for the sealcoating. This required about 5,900 gallons of sealcoating to cover 148,825 square feet of pavement. The last part of the project was to stripe and mark the parking lot.
How Long Did the Project Take?
From start to finish, the job took approximately two weeks. At the time, the dealership was light on inventory, so this allowed us to complete the job in less time than would have been needed if there had been a lot more vehicles to work around. In the end, the dealership had a parking lot with a fresh look, a pavement that was adequately protected against damage, and a safer area for their customers and employees.
